Johnsie W. Cogman
Johnsie W. Cogman is a gifted and anointed preacher, caring and compassionate choir director, and a dynamic speaker with a special ability to intuitively connect with all she comes in contact with. After running for several years, Rev. Cogman finally accepted her call to preach God’s word in 2003; she was licensed May of 2004 and ordained by the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, in October 2005. She received a Bachelors of Arts in Education degree from the University of NC, Chapel Hill, in 1983, a Masters of Science in Education degree from the University of Southern California in 1987 and an Masters of Divinity degree from Howard University School of Divinity in 2007. She is the assistant pastor of the Bolling Air Force Base Chapel Gospel Service, Washington DC.
Some facts about Rev. Cogman: she is a recent Breast Cancer survivor (having several surgeries, including a radical mastectomy, and chemotherapy and radiation therapy treatments); spokesperson for a national breast cancer organization; a former Air Force Officer, former educator in Prince George’s County, MD; former top Independent Sales Director in Mary Kay Cosmetics, Inc.; the accounting technician for Bolling AFB Chapel Center for 5 different faith groups. She is the author of “A New You in 2002” and successful business woman.
Rev. Cogman has numerous awards and honors, which include Toastmasters International Speech Contest (Club, Area, Division and District awards); Delegate for the Maryland State Teachers Association; Delegate for the National Educators Association; and most improved Mary Kay Director in the state of Maryland. She continues to give back to her community by volunteering as Special Assistant to the President of the National Defense Transportation Association, Auctioneer for the A-35 annual scholarship fund-raiser, and Mentor for the Les Brown Youth Empowerment program. Her professional affiliations include the National Speakers Association and Toastmasters International.
Adopted at birth, Rev. Cogman’s life has included many challenges and successes. She has endured divorce, single parenting, remarriage, death of 2 children, and cancer. Throughout the journey, she has remained full of life, spirit and energy. Rev. Cogman’s years as an Air Force officer, speaker and preacher, have provided her with a diverse background, which she combines with energy and personality to provide memorable and inspirational messages for a variety of companies, audiences, podiums and pulpits.
A resident of Accokeek, MD, she is married to a wonderful husband, Billy R. Cogman, who is a retired Chief Master Sergeant and Men’s Ministry leader at Bolling Chapel. The Cogmans are the proud parents of twin teenage sons, Jacob and James.
